Am I Fat Or Skinny?

1
Well, it depends on ones perspective.
The Japanese may see me as a little fat, too curvy.
Brazilians who enjoy big bottoms may consider me a bit skinny.
Americans...
in between.
In India, they'd be looking at my nose instead - a straight nose is a sign of beauty.
PERSPECTIVE, is the order of business here.
I am what I am, whatever labels one chooses to use is merely a perspective.
Thin, fat - beautiful, mousey - young, old - olive-skin, pale - I'm all and none.
Am I successful? Well, I live in a big house, love buying clothes and going out to dinner - does this define success?   I have also been blessed with an adorable son and a loving husband - is that success? I graduated with honors from undergrad and have an international MBA, does that make me successful? I earned tons of money, once - was I successful then? Currently I serve others teaching yoga and earn less than the cost of childcare - am I successful now? I am what I am and the rest is perspective, YOUR perspective - the person reading these words.
Is XYZ a good CEO? Well, he earns gobs of money, owns a jet, and has a crew chartering his yacht - so he must be good right? He also has managed to meet or surpass Analyst return expectations quarter on quarter for years earning a very healthy return for shareholders - so he's more than good, GREAT even, right? PERSPECTIVE.
At least one sexual discrimination and/or sexual harassment suit has been brought up at the firm each year under his command.
The EPA put the firm on watch for environmental violations multiple times.
Good CEO? PERSPECTIVE.
He's been divorced 2x and his son is in a drug rehab center and his daughter was hospitalized for anorexia at aged 15.
Good CEO? Who is this person? No one in particular but perhaps many of them out there - we typically just care about performance and don't care to ask about the rest.
Everything in life is perspective.
Every animate and inanimate object is perspective.
Are these shoes nice? To a shoeless child in Jamaica, they are heaven.
To the poor, they are good enough.
To others, they are trash.
To a dog, they are a chew toy - yum! In yoga, one of the causes of human suffering is called AVIDYA, defined as ignorance.
It basically means that we go through life thinking things are what they are based upon some label we give to them - in the cases above - fat, skinny, successful, good, nice.
That is our affliction that causes us to suffer - our ignorance.
There is not a single animate or inanimate object, a single action/deed/behavior, conscious or subconscious thought/belief/hope that is anything more than a PERSPECTIVE.
Contemplate that.
Discuss it.
This is paradigm shifting work...
amazing.
