How to Reassemble My Metal Futon Frame

8
    • 1). Clear out the floor in the room where you intend to place the metal futon frame. If you're moving, it's a good idea to build this furniture before moving in other possessions.

    • 2). Lay out the pieces of your metal futon frame: two arms, a couch back, a couch seat, two spacer rails, two cotter pins, two or four sliders and assorted nuts and bolts. Place the small pieces in a bowl or box. The sliders, which often resemble door stops, may still be attached to the couch seat and/or couch back

    • 3). Attach the sliders in place on the couch seat and/or couch back using the accompanying bolts, if not already still in place from your previous assembly. You will find the mounting holes on the edges of the tubes that form the frame for the seat and back.

    • 4). Lay the couch seat and couch back on the floor. Nest them together by aligning the cotter pin holes. Attach them using the cotter pins.

    • 5). Set the arm pieces in place where they will be when the futon couch is fully assembled. Orient them so the sides with the grooves face each other.

    • 6). Set one spacer in place between the arm pieces. Attach it using nuts and bolts, tightening down the bolts one-quarter to one-third of the way. Repeat to set the second spacer in place opposite the first.

    • 7). Set the couch frame in position between the arm pieces, placing the sliders in the grooves in the arms.

    • 8). Fully tighten down the bolts that attach the spacers to the arms. Set your mattress in position on the seat.
