How to Install Warm Tiles
- 1). Measure out the floor of the room where you want the warm tiles with a tape measure. Buy a floor heating system, which should include an electric mat and a thermostat.
- 2). Lay out the electric mat on the floor of the room. Place the thermostat sensor between the heating cables.
- 3). Spread a layer of thinset cement over the electric mat. Level the cement gently with a trowel.
- 4). Install the tiles over this layer of cement. Clean excess cement from the joints of the tiles. Apply grout between the tiles.
- 5). Connect the electric mat to the thermostat by following included instructions. Connect the thermostat to the circuit panel.
- 6). Turn on the thermostat and electric mat to see whether they work. Run at less than full power. Allow four weeks for the cement to dry and the grout to harden before fully using the warm tiles.
