How to Remove Baseboards from the wall
- 1
Cut Old Caulking with a untility knife
The first thing you want to do is cut a line in the old caulking that seals the baseboards to the wall. It will be much easier if your utility knife has a new sharp blade on it. Then just gently cut along the top of the baseboard where the caulking is. - 2). Next take a pry bar and place it between the wall and the baseboard. Depending on how tight it is you may need to use a hammer. Be careful not to damage the dry wall behind the baseboard. Pull the baseboard away from the wall, pulling the nails that secure it to the wall out.
- 3). Now just continue along the baseboard pulling each nail out one by one. If you are really careful you can usually pull all the nails out of the wall with out breaking the baseboard. This is nice to do if are not planning on replacing the baseboard.
