Porter Cable Flooring Nailer Instructions
- 1). Wear safety glasses to reduce the possibility of personal injury from the ricochet of cleats while nailing. Wear hearing protection to avoid potential hearing loss. Wear a hard hat.
- 2). Use clean, dry compressed air that is rated for 70 to 100 psi. Do not use carbon dioxide or any other compressed gas to power the tool because explosion and serious injury can occur. Use an air hose that is rated for 150 percent of the maximum working pressure or 150 psi. Do not connect the tool to any source with potential pressure above 200 psi. Connect the tool to the compressed air supply with a coupling that removes all pressure as soon it is disconnected, such as the 1/4 inch "quick connector" that is supplied with the nailer.
- 3). Disconnect the air supply before loading or maintaining the tool. Empty the tool of any fasteners before connecting the air supply. Point the tool in a safe direction when connecting the air supply. Release the trigger when not actively installing fasteners or when moving the tool.
- 4). Do not use the tool if it is damaged, if there is air leaking, or if the trigger mechanism is not operating correctly.
- 1). Connect the air supply.
- 2). Line up a strip of cleats with the "L" shape at the end of the magazine. Feed the cleats into the tool. Do not load the tool with the trigger depressed.
- 3). Pull the follower pin on the side of the magazine all the way back and release it so it will apply pressure to the cleats to push them into the nailing mechanism.
- 1). Position two flooring strips and use the provided mallet to tap the tongue and groove joint together firmly.
- 2). Align the driver guide on the front of the tool against the tongue side of the flooring strip.
- 3). Pull and hold the trigger with one hand while striking the rubber cap on the tool with the rubber side of the mallet. The impact on the rubber cap will cause the tool to drive a cleat into the flooring at the correct 45-degree angle. It is not necessary to strike the tool hard to activate it. Use the correct cleat length for the thickness of flooring strips you are installing.
