How to Make Corner Molding
- 1). Measure from your starting corner out along one wall, using a tape measure. Transfer the measurement to a piece of base molding that's longer than the wall with a pencil, with two marks and some spare room beyond both of them. Make the marks where the top of the trim meets the back.
- 2). Set the piece on your miter saw, in the position it will be on the wall (standing with its back against the saw fence). Position the mark right under the blade. Swivel the blade to 45 degrees so that it's pointing inward, toward the main part of the trim. Cut the trim.
- 3). Move the other mark under the blade. Turn the place to 45 degrees in the other direction, so it is again pointing toward the trim. Cut the trim.
- 4). Repeat the whole process for the wall coming off the other side of your starting corner, measuring and mitering the piece.
- 5). Set the two pieces in place, with the mitered ends butted to each other in the corner. Secure the two pieces in place with a trim nailer, sinking nails along the top and bottom of each piece every foot.
