How to Hand Drywall Corners
- 1). Cut a piece of dry wall tape to run the entire length of the corner.
- 2). Fold the drywall tape in half lengthwise and make a good crease in the valley of the fold.
- 3). Open the drywall tape so that it fits into the corner of the wall. Place the tape in the corner and hold it with one hand while working with the other.
- 4). Place some joint compound on the end of the drywall knife opposite to the side of the corner being worked. If the right side of the corner is being worked then the joint compound should be on the outer left edge of the knife.
- 5). Place the drywall knife in the corner starting at the top and draw it downwards evenly. Keep the edge of the knife firmly in the corner as the joint compound is smoothed over the tape without leaving any ripples or bumps. Do not use too much pressure on the knife or the tape may be be torn.
- 6). Work the joint compound on one side and then the other in short sections all the way down the corner. Smooth out any globs or lines, always working the compound smoothly into the corner.
