My GE Profile Unit Is Not Filling Properly

    Drain Standpipe Problem

    • If your washer is not filling correctly, it may be because it is draining at the same time. When this happens, is it due to the drain standpipe sitting too low. To fill and drain properly, the standpipe has to be at least 30 inches above the floor of your laundry room. Measure the height to see where it is, and raise it if you need to.

    Water Supply Problem

    • Check the hot and cold wall faucets to make sure that they are each fully on. If they are not on, turn the handle to the on position. It is also possible that your house is experiencing a water supply problem. Turn on the faucet in your kitchen or bathroom to determine if your home is currently having a water supply problem. If so, contact your local water utility provider.

    Water Inlet Hose Problem

    • Feel the connection around the hot and cold water inlet hoses to determine if you have a leak. When the connection is not secure, water will leak out instead of filling in the washer properly. Use a pair of pliers to tighten those connections so that it fills properly.

    Water Valve Screen Problem

    • Where the water inlet hoses connect to your washer is a screen designed to keep debris out of the washer. Over time, debris builds up on this screen preventing the washer from filling properly. Determine if this is the cause of your problem by removing the water inlets hoses with a pair of pliers. Once they are off, use a toothpick or soft brush to remove any debris before reconnecting the hoses.
