How to Visit the Kennedy Center
- 1). Take a free guided tour of the Kennedy Center to see the theatres and enjoy the art and sculptures. If you want to eat, you'll find casual and fine dining at the Kennedy Center.
- 2). Enjoy a performance. Every day at 6 p.m. the Kennedy Center offers a free performance from its Millennium Stage. Each presentation features a different artist or group and covers a wide range of instruments, styles and genres from the United States and around the globe.
- 3). Attend a performance of the National Symphony Orchestra. The Kennedy Center is home to the NSO and the performances are often put together around a special theme; often, they feature guest artists and conductors.
- 4). Attend the annual open house. Each year, the Kennedy Center throws open its doors to kick off its performing arts season. Guests are welcome to enjoy the music and dance, create a work of (chalk) art on the main plaza and step up to the musical instrument “petting zoo” designed to introduce children to the world of music.
- 5). Check the calendar and plan your visit so you can participate in a workshop or a class. The staff insists that no observers are allowed at these ballet and dance experiences, so wear your dancing shoes.
