DIY Hydroponic Bubbles
- 1). Center the plastic pot upside down on the lid and draw a line around it with the marker. Flip the pot over and draw an inner line.
- 2). Drill through the plastic lid between the inner and outer line. Use the drill bit to slowly work your way around the outside of the inner circle creating a hole the pot will fit in but not fall through.
- 3). Identify a drill bit about the side of the air line. Drill a hole in the side of the container, near the top above the intended water line. Pass the air line tubing into the container through the hole. Attach an air stone to the air line in the bucket. Air stones are made from pumice or synthetic pumice and their fine, irregular pores force the air to break up into tiny bubbles.
- 4). Attach the free end of the air line tubing to the air pump.
- 5). Position the plastic container under your lights or where the plants will get sunshine. Fill the container with water and add nutrients.
- 6). Put the lid on the container and place the pot in the center of the lid. Be certain that the water reaches just below the bottom of the pot.
- 7). Clean the plant roots of all dirt without harming the root hairs.
- 8). Fill the pot bottom with dampened rock wool, a fibrous growing medium, and place the cleaned plant in the pot. Fill the rest of the pot with rock wool evenly around the plant supporting it.
