How to Make a Skirt for a Tent
- 1). Measure the width and height of one wall of the tent with the tape measure. Determine the total square footage by first multiplying the width by the height. Repeat this step for the other three sides.
- 2). Add the square footage from each side of the tent together. This is the total square footage for the walls of the tent.
- 3). Obtain a sheet of vinyl that is the height of the tent wall. Measure the vinyl to the width you measured for each of the walls. Cut the vinyl to the measurement for each wall with the scissors.
- 4). Mark the sides of each cut piece of vinyl for the metal snaps with the felt tip marker. Mark the location of a snap every eight to ten inches.
- 5). Make a hole on the marks you made in the vinyl with the punch and hammer. The punch is included in the metal snap kit.
- 6). Position the seat for the snap on a flat surface.
- 7). Place the ring for the bottom snap into the seat and then align a hole in the vinyl over the ring. Set the female part of the snap onto the post. Place the awl over the post and strike it with the hammer. Repeat this step with the front and back wall panels.
- 8). Place the top part of the snap into the seat and align a hole in the vinyl over the snap. Set the male part of the snap on the post. Place the awl over the post and strike it with the hammer. Repeat this step with the two side wall panels.
- 9). Set the walls in place on the tent and snap them together.
