How to Replace Drapery Pull Cords
- 1). Remove the drapes with the traverse rod from the wall. You can remove the drapes from the rod, but this is not necessary. Depending on how the drapes and the rod are connected, it may not be possible to separate them.
- 2). Lay the rod face down on a flat work surface.
- 3). Cut the old cord and pull it from the rod, removing the knots that hold the cord in place.
- 4). Measure the old cord from one end to the other and cut a piece of replacement cord the same length.
- 5). Insert the cord through the hole in the right side of the upper carriage and pull the cord toward the right side of the rod. Tie a knot in the opposite end of the cord to prevent it from passing all the way through the slot.
- 6). Stretch the cord over the top pulley on the right side and between the top and bottom pulleys.
- 7). Thread the cord through the bridge on the bottom of the rod, through the underlap master carrier.
- 8). Pull the cord through the top and bottom pulleys on the left side of the rod.
- 9). Pull the cord tight and allow the excess cord to loop down toward the floor.

Lace the end of the cord around the top of the upper pulley on the left side and pull it through the hole on the left side of the upper carriage and tie a knot. Replace the drapery and the rod on the wall and test the function of the drapes.
