Glass Tile Ideas
- To give your kitchen a splash of color, create a glass tile mosaic backsplash. Sketch out a food theme, such as a bundle of grapes, watermelon or a loaf of bread. Use colored pencils to get an idea of the colors you want to use. Measure the space and purchase colored glass tiles in the right shades. Doing the project yourself will require purchasing grout and other tools to complete the project.
- Give your bathroom an ultramodern look with iridescent glass tiles on the walls of your shower stall. These tiles will become even shinier when they're wet. Or, create a mermaid mosaic on the bathroom floor with jelly bean glass. Make your kid's bathroom fun with bubble glass tiles. Bubble glass tile looks like bubble bath bubbles, and is surprisingly realistic; you're sure to get comments from friends and family.
- For a surprising burst of color in a neutral room, create a floral mosaic. Sketch out a design, creating a single narrow panel of colorful zinnias or sunflowers with varying shades of orange, red and yellow, with leaves and stems. Finish it with cherry wood borders. Or, create a design to cover an entire wall. Bring your sketch to a tile shop or crafts store, and consult with an expert about color choices.
- Set off an area in front of a fireplace, near your front door, or in a family room with a glass tile faux rug. Mark off a rug-size rectangle. Create a folk-art design, or use neutral, earth-toned glass tiles to create a simple geometric shapes, for an unexpected, natural-looking surface.
- Create a pop of color between dark or neutral colored tiles in your kitchen, bath or studio space, with art glass tiles. Each tiny tile is a unique rendering, some in solid colors, others with brightly colored backgrounds and whimsical shapes fused to the surface.
