How to Shut Off or Remove OnStar in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe

3
    • 1). Open and empty your glove compartment while sitting in the passenger side of your Tahoe. On the inside of the glove box you'll find a tab, just a little left of center.

    • 2). Grab the tab you've located, and pull it. This releases the glove box from the dashboard.

    • 3). Allow the glove box compartment to completely lower, as far as it will go. Inside the mounting area, behind the center console, you will see a blue wiring harness connector.

    • 4). Release the retaining tab by pressing on the side of the connector, and pull it apart (this blue connector is what keeps the OnStar service enabled). This completely disables the OnStar's electrical system and connection.

    • 5). Realign the glove compartment, and gently push it back up into the dash. Align it in the mounting bracket and push until it clicks into place.
