Benicia, California, is a waterfront city located on San Pablo Bay and only 20 miles from San Francisco and offers an abundance of activities, including fishing, boating, hiking and golf to occupy any RV vacationer's time. The campground at the Benicia State Recreation Area has three campsites that are available on a first come basis and there are no reservations. The 730 acre park has over two and a half miles of roadway, hiking and bicycle paths that wind through woods, hills, beaches and marshland. Bird watching, swimming, roller skating, cycling, fishing and hiking are available and the state has placed exercise equipment at intervals along the paths for campers use. Leashed dogs are permitted.

Tradewinds RV Park is located in Vallejo, 8 miles from Benicia, and only 20 miles from several Napa Valley Wine Country Vineyards. The campground has 78 sites equipped with full water, sewer and 30- and 50-amp electrical connections. There is a master antenna for cable television wireless Internet access. All roads in Tradewinds RV Park are paved, and the RV spaces are graveled. The park has a modern laundry and spacious tiled restroom and shower facility, grills and picnic tables. Fishing spots and hiking areas abound in nearby Presidio National Park and Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve and golf enthusiasts can try the links at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course.

Experience 25 miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding with horses available at the riding concession that operates year-round. The park is filled with recreational activities including numerous nature trails, fishing and biking. The park is also the home of the Ferguson Observatory and its 40 inch telescope, which can be rented for groups visiting the park. Many opportunities for fishing at area lakes and streams are available and the nearby Oakmont Golf club in Kenwood offers several courses for golfers to try out their skills.
