How Can I Get the Safari Window to Fill My Whole Screen?
- Macs tend to avoid screen-filling windows, so you'll need to do a bit of resizing work. Click on the Safari icon in the Dock to launch the program; if the icon isn't there, locate Safari in the Finder, in the Applications directory, and double-click to open it.
Move your mouse cursor to the title bar at the top of the window. Click and drag the window so that the left side bumps up against the left-hand side of your viewable monitor area, and to the top of the window is as far toward the top of your screen as it will go.
Now, move your mouse cursor to the three diagnonal lines at the bottom right-hand corner of the window. Click and hold the mouse button down while dragging the corner down and right until it reaches the bottom right-hand corner of the viewable screen area. - Windows users have several options for resizing application windows. The first is quite similar to the Mac way: Launch the program--either from the Start menu's "All Programs" area or from a shortcut on the Desktop or Quick Launch toolbar--and click and drag from any of the window's corners.
There are two places at the top of the Safari window that automatically maximize the window. At the top right-hand corner of the application window, you'll find three small icons: a line, which minimizes the window, an X, which closes the application and a square, which maximizes the window. Click the square and Safari will fill the screen. Or simply double-click anywhere in the title bar--the bar that displays the title of the page you're viewing--and the window will resize to fill the screen.
Finally, you can make the change stick. Find the shortcut icon you use to open Safari. Right-click on it and choose "Properties" from the context menu that opens. Choose the "Shortcut" tab. In the field marked "Run," choose "Maximized" from the drop-down menu. Press "OK."
