How to Send Parcels to a BFPO Address
- 1). Ensure that none of the parcel contents conflict with the "Mail Prohibitions" of the BFPO (see Resources). These items include explosives, flammable liquids, radioactive materials and others.
- 2). Verify that your parcel falls within the size and weight limitations of the British Forces Post Office. Parcels must be no larger than 30kg in weight and can be no larger than 2.0 meters in length and girth, at the time of this publication.
- 3). Write "HM Forces Mail" in the top-left corner of the front side of the box for your parcel. This clearly identifies the parcel as "HM Forces Mail." All parcels are must have this marking on the box.
- 4). Include the service number, full name and rank of the officer to whom you are sending the parcel. This information helps identify that individual and makes sure the parcel gets into the appropriate hands.
- 5). Include the unit or regiment number of the recipient of the parcel beneath the information provided in Step 4. Beneath this information write any applicable operation name and the BFPO number for that recipient. Include your return address information on the reverse side of your parcel.
