What Kind of Pictures Go in a Kitchen?
- Color comes alive with pictures of fruits or vegetables. A photo of a lone apple or an assortment of fruits in a basket certainly belongs on a kitchen wall. Complement the picture with a bowl of fruit or a hanging bunch of bananas on the countertop. Sweet corn, eggplants and radishes are a few of the lively colors you'll find from garden veggies. In the fall switch the pictures to ones of pumpkins and fall leaves to stay attuned with the season.
- Cheerful sunflower photos hanging on the wall and a single sunflower in a vase will perk up any kitchen. White curtains with a yellow border will tie everything together in a neat package. Sunflowers aren't your only option for the kitchen. Pick a favorite color, and you'll have no problem matching a flower to the color. Select placemats to blend with the colors.
- Farm animal pictures are right at home in a country-style kitchen. Roosters, cows and pigs are good choices for kitchen décor. Kitchen linens, area rugs and casual dinnerware are easy to find with farm animal prints on them. Divide the wall with a chair rail. Attach wainscoting beneath the chair rail, and paint the top portion of the wall a color to set off the pictures.
- If you're partial to a certain cuisine or have a signature dish, display pictures to represent your tastes. Create an Italian kitchen theme with a picture of steaming spaghetti and meatballs, or select a framed poster to hang. Set the table using a red and white checkered tablecloth. Add a centerpiece with a wine bottle with layers of wax dripping down the side.
- A picture of a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine in a simple frame may be more suited for your kitchen. A small wine rack on the countertop or a bowl of grapes would go nicely with this picture. Blend black, white and red colors for a sophisticated looking kitchen.
