You'll need a few basic supplies to get prepared to clean out your locker. Grab a few plastic bags for any discarded trash. You also might want a backpack to take home any keepsakes, books or extra gym wear you've left behind.
Don't forget about cleaning supplies. You also need paper towels or a sponge and a basic surface cleaner. You can also try something like a glass cleaner, which will easily clean the surface without requiring any water to wash away any suds. You can also just use vinegar, though be careful of the fumes as they can be overwhelming. If you want to get serious about the cleaning, you can even bring a pair of rubber gloves, though it shouldn't be necessary. - Sweaty clothes can raise a stink.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Pull out any papers or old books and clothes and decide what you want to do with them. If anything can still be of use, like a pair of shoes, consider donating it to your local Red Cross or clothing drive. Throw out any unwanted or unusable items and be sure to recycle any discarded cans or papers.
Before throwing out or donating old books, flip through the pages to be sure no notes were left behind. Don't forget to check in the crevices of your locker along the sides and doors. Stray papers and small items can get wedged and hidden from immediate sight. It's a good idea to get organized at least a day before you plan to clean so you can lighten the load and have more time to prepare. - Get busy cleaning.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Use your surface cleaner, glass cleaner or vinegar on paper towels and start cleaning. Scrub down the sides of your locker and the inner as well as the outer, door. Be sure to clean down along the seams of the locker between the bottom and sides, as dirt can easily get trapped.
If you haven't cleaned in awhile, your paper towels will probably get dirty fast. Keep cleaning and changing up your paper towels until they wipe clean. Give your combination a once over with the cleaner to disinfect any bacteria left behind. - Your locker is clean.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Collect your cleaner, discarded paper towels and any trash or keepsakes. Make sure to dispose or donate everything properly. Take a look and see if you may have left a dirty mark on the floor somewhere, as the trash could have leaked out. Clean up any remaining spots and head to the trash bins. If you have leftover cleaner, offer it to someone else cleaning out his locker or take it home for your next deep locker cleaning.
