How to Glaze Aluminum
- 1). Take the window pane out of the aluminum tracks in the window and place it on a table or work bench.
- 2). Scrape loose glazing compound away from the glass with a putty knife. Remove stubborn glaze by heating the glaze with a heat gun and scraping it with the putty knife.
- 3). Remove the glass from the aluminum window by carefully tipping the frame while holding the glass with one hand. The glass should tip out of the frame. Scrape off any remaining putty or other debris from the glass.
- 4). Use the putty knife to spread a thin layer of glazing compound inside the frame where the glass sits. Put the glass back in the window.
- 5). Place glazing points around the frame spaced about 7 inches apart. Glazing points are small metal pieces that keep the window in place.
- 6). Allow the glazing compound to harden. It will take about four days to completely harden. Scrape off any compound that has seeped out onto the glass.
