How to Repair Laminate Flooring Bubbles
- 1). Mark the damaged laminate flooring with a chalk pencil 1½ inch from each end and side of the laminate board. Divide the laminate board into three sections, using the tape measure, and make two small marks on each long side of the board to mark the center third of the laminate plank.
- 2). Drill 3/16-inch holes at each corner of the laminate plank and at the outer edge of each relief cut. Drill the same size holes at each corner of the rectangle you marked. When done, 12 holes should be drilled.
- 3). Adjust your circular saw to the thickness of your laminate wood flooring according to the saw's manufacturer directions. If necessary, measure the thickness of your replacement laminate board to get the correct measurement. Cut along the chalk lines to remove the center of the laminate plank. Add two relief cuts on each long side of the board, using the drilled holes as a stopping point.
- 4). Remove the center portion of the laminate board, using a small pry bar to lift it up if needed. Carefully pull the remaining pieces of the laminate floor up. Clean away any glue debris with a sharp chisel, as clean edges are needed to replace the floor.
- 5). Cut the tongue from the short end of the laminate board, but not the long side. Sand the short end of the laminate board with 120-grit sandpaper to ensure a smooth finish.
- 6). Apply a layer of laminate floor glue to the top of the tongue on the long side of the laminate board and the bottom of the grooves on the long side and on the other short end of the board. Carefully slide the board into the opening created by removing the damaged laminate plank, pressing it down firmly when it is in place.
- 7). Clean any glue from the surface of the laminate plank with a damp cloth. Place several heavy weights on the laminate board to keep firm pressure on it. Leave the weights in place for 24 hours.
