Do-It-Yourself Cabinet Molding
- 1). Take the measurements of the cabinet's top three sides. Transfer the dimensions to the 1-by-2 foot board with a pencil.
- 2). Trim the board with a miter saw according to the dimensions. Attach the pieces to the upper edges of the cabinets with a nail gun. If there are spaces, fill them in later. Use a level to make sure the wood pieces are aligned with another. The molding will be secured to the boards.
- 3). Mark the measurements from the boards to the molding. Set the miter saw to 45 degrees and cut the molding according to the measurements.
- 4). Connect the molding to the boards on the cabinets with a nail gun. Evenly space the nails to accurately secure the molding.
- 5). Cover the nails with wood putty. Fill in any gaps present between the molding and the cabinets with caulk. Stain the molding with the color of your choice.
