How to Repair Ripped Drywall Paper
- 1). Remove any extra loose paper hanging off of the drywall.
- 2). Apply a layer of drywall sealer over the damaged area with a paintbrush. Allow the sealer to air dry for two hours.
- 3). Scoop drywall compound onto a trowel and apply over the sealer. Use a fanning motion with the trowel to blend the compound between the edges of the damaged drywall and existing drywall. Allow the compound to air-dry for 24 hours. Repeat the process if the damage is still visible.
- 4). Sand the compound smooth using a damp sponge.
- 5). Apply a drywall primer to the repair with a paintbrush if you plan on painting the wall.
