With the picturesque Adirondacks and the 1000 Islands nearby, nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario, Watertown is popular with nature lovers and tourists. It's located in upstate New York, 30 miles south of the Canadian border. The city is small--with a population of 26,705, as of 2010. While it's not known for a bustling nightlife, there are still a few opportunities in Watertown to enjoy a night out on the town. - Look for the distinctive blue awning on Factory Street, in the heart of Watertown's downtown, and you'll spot Thunderdome Dance Club. It's a full-service bar and nightclub that features a dance floor and DJ for those who want to get up and groove. The venue is small---with just five to nine employees, according to Thunderdome's company profile on Manta. There is no cover charge and it's open every night.

Featuring a full-service restaurant and bar, Artie's boasts a menu of cocktails you can't get anywhere else. It's open every night until early morning. Patrons can play pool, watch sporting events on the plasma televisions, dance or even sing on one of their regular karaoke nights. Artie's markets itself as the best place in Watertown to watch Nascar races. As of 2010, it's still run by the original owner, Art Smith.

The Playhouse is located 11 miles outside city limits, in nearby Sackets Harbor, just past the Watertown International Airport. There's a full-service restaurant and bar overlooking Lake Ontario, along with plenty of jokes. Comedians from the National Comedy Circuit regularly headline at the club. As of August 2010, dinner and a show cost $25 a person. For admission to the comedy show only, the cost is $12 a person. Military personnel from the nearby Fort Drum Army Base receive a discount on the cost of admission, with I.D.
