Where to Buy Fireworks in Sacramento

15
Every year in late June, hundreds of fireworks booths appear all over Sacramento County. Each of these booths are run by a local non-profit organization, which in turn earns income for their cause in exchange for booth set up, maintenance, sales and teardown. This is a wonderful opportunity for many local organizations to fund their fall programs, including churches, sports teams, charities and more.

Consider purchasing fireworks this year to support your favorite non-profit, or if you aren’t familiar with any select one of the deserving groups listed below.

Compassion Planet

Based out of the Roseville/Rocklin area, Compassion Planet exists to serve local community members in need through providing food, job training and more. They currently distribute food out of a Roseville church on a weekly basis, run two thrift stores in Rocklin and have outreaches planned for underserved youth in the region.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy

This Placer County charter school is a plant out of the established Rocklin Academy. It currently educates students from 6-12th grade. Their demanding college preparatory program makes it possible for students who may not be able to afford private school tuition to still receive a quality education in a safe environment.

Ends of the Earth

This non-profit organization maintains land and life improvements in rural South Africa. Teams from Placer County travel there throughout the year to deliver essentials and further the expansion of such resources as a medical center, school and community center. Ends of the Earth also provides local care, including a food bank, mobile home community outreaches and more. A recent summer event involved collecting hundreds of pairs of sandals to take overseas to the children of Sudan.

Crossroads Church

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus in South Sacramento have been running fireworks booths for quite some time. Their chairman is an 84-year-old who has been heading up the fundraising effort since 1961. This year’s fireworks sales will benefit the needs of St. Philimine’s Parish in Sacramento as well as the Sagman Lumad Foundation overseas in the Philipines.

Antelope Jr Titans

This local youth football team is holding a fireworks booth to raise funds for both their football and cheer programs. Parents of involved participants receive registration discounts when they work at the booth, while patrons to the stand will help defray costs for all families in the fall.

Help Out a Group in More Ways Than One

Beyond benefitting a local non-profit organization through your patronage, you are also serving as quite the encouragement during the summer of 2013. With a ruthless heat wave hitting the valley during the single week window fireworks sales are allowed in California, every sale helps tired and overheated workers to keep pressing on to meet their fundraising goals. Since electricity is not allowed in the booths, many are without any sort of relief from the blazing afternoons. Consider purchasing your fireworks prior to July 4th to help encourage these groups to remain open despite the heat and a struggling economy.

Fireworks Safety

Fireworks are only sold in the County of Sacramento between June 28th and July 6th, and for good reason. It is only legal for residents to set off these fireworks between noon on June 28th to 10pm on July 5th, only on the same year of purchase. However, there is no state law that limits other times you can use them. So, if you travel to another county, it may be perfectly lawful to launch your fireworks in February, May or whenever you’d like to. Just check with the county ordinances before doing so.
